    Since our last update

    • New version of the Camera Trapping Module added to the Download Documents page (v2 April 2024)
      • Key updates include: 
          • Updated details for uploading camera trap array spatial data; added deployment start date step; updated details in the steps to repeat steps in the deployment protocol; updated details for the deployment ID; updated details in the deployment end date step in the retrieval protocol.
    • Monitor version 1.0.3 was deployed 20th September 2024
      • Key updates include:
          • User interface improvements
          • New feature which helps to make synchronisation of the data more robust
          • Additional checks to make sure data collected is correct and complete
          • Improved handling of uploaded photos. Previous bugs resulted in some photo files being corrupted
          • Fixes where some users were synching plot-based data items but were unable to immediately make further use of the at data in subsequent protocols
    • Community of Practice (COP's) were held in July, August and September. Recordings are available on the Events and webinars page
    • The Community Forum was added to the EMSA website, and waiting for EMSA users to register and start connecting with fellow practitioners
    • The Threatened Species Index end-user training and EMSA module development workshop was held Tuesday 17th September. Stay tuned for a link to the TSX website for the recording.
    • Related to EMSA, the Threatened Species Survey Guidelines project has progressed. Literature Reviews and Literature Overviews for the 110 priority threatened species have now been released, and available on the Threatened species survey guidelines page. The Survey Guidelines document is expected to be released later in September. 

    Key work in progress

    • Content filming for new educational videos, covering aspects:
      • Plot Layout and Positioning Module, particularly using external DGPS devices
      • Floristics Module, particularly collecting and pressing
      • Cover Module, focussing using a densitometer for canopy measures
      • Vertebrate Fauna Module, Acoustic and ultrasonic recordings protocol, has undergone expert review, and datasheets for Song Meter and Audio Moth devices are expected to be available before the end of September. App build due to commence shortly. 
    • Monitor version 1.0.3 is due for release the week commencing 23rd September.
