    Hi EMSA Community,

This week, the EMSA Support Team travelled to NSW for the first field training workshops!

    • Thank you to the Local Land Services staff and contractors who took time out of their busy schedules to attend the field training. We look forward to bringing the EMSA training to other NRM regions across Australia this year.

    • Information Sheets: EMSA-Approved Botanists

New documents on the EMSA website:

      • EMSA Floristics Module Guidance
      • Requirements to make flora species determinations in the Floristics module (fact sheet)
      • Application form to be recognised as an EMSA-approved Botanist

Ecologists and on-ground field staff who are experienced in plant identification can become accredited EMSA-Approved Botanists, eliminating the need for plant vouchers to be identified by a Herbarium-based Botanist.

Please read the Guidance document and discuss with your Project Manager, as any use of the modification needs to be discussed with the Long-term Monitoring team first, as it may reduce floristics monitoring rigour and have implications for reporting on project outcomes. If physical vouchers are not being collected in a project, the project manager must seek an exemption from the EMSA Protocol Advisory Group.

We will be discussing the EMSA-Approved Botanist process at the next Community of Practice meeting.

    • Save the date for the next EMSA Community of Practice. Wednesday 25th June at 2:00 pm (AEST)
